Waldmann's
Disease also known as Primary Intestinal Lymphangiectasia is a rare digestive
disorder where lymph vessels supplying the lining of small intestine are
abnormally enlarged. The cause of this condition is still unknown. The sign of
the disease includes loss of lymphatic fluid into the gastrointestinal tract,
immunodeficiency and reduced levels of antibodies.
Symptoms

Symptoms
of Waldmann’s Disease are abdominal pain and swelling, diarrhoea, excessive
fats in faeces, weight loss, nausea & vomiting.
Diagnostic
& Treatment –
Most diagnoses are done after noticing a
swelling in the leg. For confirmation endoscopy, blood test, stool test, biopsy
and x-ray are done. Treatment includes, low fat and high protein diet, special
supplements of calcium, vitamins and nutrients. It is not a cure but
prevention.
