Legionellosis (Legionnaires Disease)

Legionellosis (Legionnaires Disease)
It’s also referred to as Legion fever. It is a type of pneumonia. It occurs due to any Gram negative aerobic bacteria belonging to the group Legionella predominantly legionella pneumophila.
SYMPTOMS:
Individuals show fever, chills, diarrhea, cough with sputum, headache, muscle aches, tiredness, anorexia, ataxia, vomiting, confusion, bradycardia and impaired cognition
DIAGNOSIS:
In the patients who are suffering from the disease, laboratory tests shows impaired renal and liver functions and electrolytes are improper, chest X-rays shows pneumonia with bi-basal consolidation.
TREATMENT:

Antibiotics used are quinolones- levofloxacin, macrolides- azythromycin, tetracycline and erythromycin.
