Lissencephaly

Lissencephaly 
It is a very uncommon brain formation disorder. It occurs due to defective neuronal migration which leads to undeveloped or less developed brain folds.
SYMPTOMS:
Individuals show severe muscle spasm, impaired psychological, behavioural and cognitive development, seizures, dysphagia and physical anomalies.

DIAGNOSIS:
The diagnosis is done with the help of USG, CT and MRI at the time of birth. Genetic studies regarding the disease are also conducted.
TREATMENT:

Treatment is symptomatic. Supportive care should be taken. When feeding gets severely hampered nasogastric tube is introduced or gastrectomy is done.
