Addison’s Disease  Symptoms

 Since the damages to the glands are in a gradual process, even the symptoms of the disease come out slowly. The characteristics of the disease include


  • Tiredness and fatigue
  • Weakness in muscles
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea, vomiting ,diarrhea
  • Loss in weight
  • Depression and irritability
  • Low blood pressure
  • Craving for salty food
  • Skin darkening, and skin folds at the knees, knuckles, toes, lips, elbow etc
  • Menstrual periods may stop or become irregular. 
It is only when the person meets with an accident or falls ill the damage becomes worse creating a situation called addisonian crisis.  Many times it is only during this crisis, that the disease is detected.
