What is Addison’s Disease?

What is Addison’s Disease?

Addison’s disease occurs when the adrenal glands stop functioning in a normal way that could lead to complications.

These glands are located a little above the kidneys and their outer layer produce cortisol and aldosterone.

The disease causes slow destruction of the outer layers that causes less or non production of these hormones.

The Addison’s disease is caused by disorders to the autoimmune systems.

The antibodies in a human body attack the body’s tissues or organs destroying them in a slow manner.

The disease is also caused due to improper hormones in the body like the ACTH though here the tissues of the adrenal glands are not destroyed.
