Symptoms of Acromegaly

Following are the symptoms of acromegaly with which it can be identified:

·         Feet and hands abnormally grown

·         Facial features will get changed.

·         Brow, lower jaw and nose will be protruding

·         tongue and lips will get large

·         headaches

·         Arthritis

·         Difficulty in seeing

·         oily, coarse skin which is thick

·         trouble breathing while sleeping

·         Skin odor

·         Sweating

·         weakness and fatigue

·         enlargement of vital organs like heart, kidneys, spleen, liver, etc

Diagnosis: For the diagnosis of Acromegaly, doctors will test the level of growth hormone in blood. 

It will be done through oral glucose tolerance test. 

If this disorder is suspected, CT Scan and MRI scan of brain will be done for checking for pituitary tumors.
