Addison’s Disease Treatment

Addison’s Disease Treatment

The Main focus has to be on substituting the hormones that are lost.

Daily medication for the replacement has to be taken for the rest of their lives. Regular check ups with an endocrinologist is a must.

Some patients in need of surgery are given general anesthesia and given hydrocortisone injections and saline.

Pregnant ladies are treated with standard replacement therapy.

They are advised to carry a identification stating their condition and give an alert the need to inject 100 mg of cortisol if the bearer is found injured or is unable to answer questions.
