Lyme disease

Lyme disease
 It is a bacterial infectious disease which is caused by the bacteria which belongs to the genus Borrelia and is transmitted by the bite of an infected tick.

SYMPTOMS:
The classical sign Lyme disease is erythema migrans. Individuals can also have flu-like symptoms. In the early disseminated form various acute neurological problems can occur. In the late disseminated form chronic symptoms occurs including all the parts of the body.


DIAGNOSIS:
It is based on symptoms and serological blood test.

TREATMENT:

 Antibiotics used are doxycycline, amoxicillin, cefotaxime, cefuroxime, ceftriaxone and azithromycin. Rest of the treatment is symptomatic.
